Agenda

 

Saturday April 28 equipment setup

 

  • Set up server and SAN HW

  • Configure SAN RAID

  • Install ESXi 5.0.

  • Basic configuration of ESXi

  • Configure NTP

  • Server NIC teaming, virtual switches

  • Configure switches.

  • Trunk switches together, star configuration to main switch

  • Install pfSense, configure main firewall

  • Install Windows 2008R2, patch, configure Active Directory – DNS - DHCP

  • Install Windows 2008R2, patch, configure vCenter

  • Install CentOS 6.0, patch, configure DNS – tftp – Samba

  • Populate CentOS with boot images, build PXE boot menus

  • Build ESXi 5.0 under ESXi 5.0 virtual host

 

 

Sunday April 29 hands on lab

 

  • Install vSphere 5.0 client

  • Overview of lab HW, network setup, servers

  • Review of ESXi 5.0 under ESXi 5.0

  • Install nested ESXi 5.

  • Configuration of vSwitch and networking

  • iSCSI storage configuration

  • Install OSR6v

  • Install OSR5, OSR6, UW714 native on Dell HW

  • Install H700 monitoring script

  • Test RAID failure and rebuild

  • Test iDRAC remote access

  • Test DR1000 with BackupEDGE

  • Remote bare metal restore

 

 

Monday April 30
